Somerset House is a major arts and cultural centre in the heart of London. During summer months 55 fountains dance in the courtyard, and in winter you can skate on London’s favourite ice rink. Somerset House also programmes contemporary art and design exhibitions, free displays, family workshops and guided tours. We are also home to London Fashion Week.
We were welcomed by a very helpful member of staff Kofi (Pronounced like “coffee”:) and this neon red door
Somerset house is a grand building: its corridors can confuse you
There is a quiet and peaceful place – Reading Room
and the view out of the window
While walking to the ice rink
And amazing ice skating rink!
After a walk around Somerset we got a bit cold but luckily there are plenty of places to get a cup of tea or a whole meal. We chose this cozy little cafe:
and ND happy about the food!
And amazing Christmas Tree in Covent Garden at the end of the day
We highly recommend Somerset house to spend a nice winter day with your family or friends. There are also plenty of free Exhibitions and workshops such as Knyttan’s Factory of Future, which offers you to design your own scarf or jumper and watch it coming to life from one of the industrial knitting machines! (Will run until March, 1) Find out more at somerset.org.uk
Stay tuned for more interesting places and exhibitions in London!
